Universal Washing Instructions for Electric Heating Blankets & Heated Clothing
Keep your heated products performing at their best with this simple, safety-focused washing guide designed for electric heating blankets and electric-heated clothing such as jackets, vests, hoodies, gloves, and pants.
1. Power & Battery Removal
Before cleaning any heated item:
- Unplug all power cords
- Remove the battery pack (for heated clothing)
- Disconnect controllers and wires
Never wash an item with electronics still attached.
2. Prep for Washing
- Close all zippers and secure Velcro
- Make sure all ports are sealed or covered
- Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or harsh chemicals
- Spot-treat stains gently with mild detergent
3. Machine Wash (Safe Cycle)
Use these settings for both heated blankets and heated clothing:
- Cold or Warm water
- Gentle/Delicate cycle
- Mild detergent only
- No heavy agitation (2–3 minute agitation recommended)
Avoid:
- Hot water
- Strong spin cycles
- Heavy-duty wash settings
4. Drying Instructions
To protect heating elements and wiring:
- Air dry is the safest method
- Or tumble dry LOW ONLY for 10–15 minutes
- Remove while slightly damp and hang/lay flat to finish drying
Never:
- Use high heat
- Iron
- Dry clean
- Wring or twist the fabric
5. Safety Notes
- Ensure the item is 100% dry before reconnecting any battery pack or power cord
- Never plug in a damp heated product
- Do not store the item while moist or compressed
